Our History

The North American Weightpull Association (NAWA) was founded with a vision to offer a fresh and inclusive approach to the sport of canine weightpull. Launched by passionate competitors and organizers, NAWA emerged from a desire to modernize event standards, prioritize fairness and sportsmanship, and provide a welcoming environment for newcomers and seasoned pullers alike.

Since its formation, NAWA has worked to establish clear rules, professional event structures, and developmental pathways for clubs, judges, and junior handlers. With a growing membership and a transparent governance model, NAWA continues to champion a sport where every team can succeed and every effort is celebrated.
